As requested, we did a version of a post we made in portuguese to make sure that all of the fandom could know about the news in the Shadowhunters TV show. We had the opportunity to read some parts of the script of the pilot episode and we wrote how we felt about it. As we got new versions of the script, we updated the post. This is it:

First post: 03/06/15
First of all, we’d like to say we didn’t read the full script of Shadowhunters’ pilot. We read something like 10 minutes of the episode, and the scenes aren’t in chronological order. For that reason, we highlight that the opinion presented here will be about our access to a very limited content.
Also we’re not going to reveal how we had access to the script, since there could be parts affected by the process. Therefore we hope you’ll understand and won’t ask us to disclose more than we are sharing with you, (since we are already sharing EVERYTHING that is possible), let alone the script itself.
And finally, we don’t even know if the script we read is the same as the one Fangirlishness had access to a while ago, and started quite a uprising on the fandom. We believe that the script that we have seems to be more updated since there are some differencesi between them. Let’s talk about the rumors:

We begin with the first one: yes, the characters are going to be older in the show and will be in college, with Clary studying art and no mention up to this point to Simon’s major. We do know, however, that it will be accounting according to the informations previously revealed.
And yes, the rumor that Simon is going to have a girlfriend is true. Her name is Natalie and she will be a part of Simon’s band. The consensus between our staff is that she’s like a female version of Eric, who doesn’t appear in the fragmente we read. This genderbending (because their personality is the same) would have only been made for Simon to have a girlfriend. We don’t understand why they changed it, and we were concerned that this might affect Simon’s character development arc, as the fact that he is in love with Clary at the beginning of the series is a fundamental part of it. The content to which we have access isn’t enough to confirm or deny the rumor that Natalie appears more than Clary in the episode.

Another rumor was that the Shadowhunters would be a CIA subdivision, or would be in any way subordinate or work together with this organization. As far as we read, we can’t confirm as there is no mention of this fact, and therefore do not rule out this hypothesis. Unlike the books, the series Shadowhunters live in a very modern world and use the latest technology (including having a database with demons cataloged on their tablets). Again, this can even be an interesting change if properly exploited.

A rumor that the story wasn’t set in NY, which didn’t make any sense for anyone who read the books, was cleared in the version we got: The Shadowhunters will live in New York.

However, our feeling of victory doesn’t last long. The series is more sexualized, indeed. Jace places a rune in Clary’s thigh to heal an injury that wasn’t even there, just to create a sexual scenario. And if this wasn’t shocking enough, he did it when Clary was unconscious. Unfortunately, a lot of the staff members agree that the characters personality is different, the exception being maybe Simon, who is still funny and making his usual jokes.

Alec and Isabelle seem submissive towards Jace (as if Jace were the Institute’s boss). The worse, though, is that Jace makes sexual innuendos all the time, which have no response from Clary. She seems to have lost a lot of her fiery personality as well as her ‘nerd background’ when she says that the only manga that she ever read was “Dragon Balls”.
It’s like we are seeing our beloved characters, know which are which, but in a weird, wrong way. We’re still hopeful, though, that all of this will be better shown on screen, or even altered.

Additional information: apparently, in the series, Clary will have already drawn a bunch of runes and magical creatures before knowing that she is a Shadowhunter, similar to what happens in the movie. And since the beginning there will be signs of her powers because she ‘imprisons’ a cookie inside a piece of paper.

There’s a short scene showing Valentim with Jocelyn, which seems to point in the direction that we will be seeing more of him during the season. This could be interesting to see, perhaps.

In general, we’ve noticed that the pace of the events is slower when compared to the movie. This can be positive, since there will be more time to properly explain some things and the events can develop in a less rushed way, if they really follow the book’s storyline, but on the other hand we know that they will add a lot of content that doesn’t exist in the original history.

The conclusion as to whether or not we approve this script and how the changes are being made? Let us be very honest in saying that we haven’t reached a decision yet. Some of us really didn’t like it, because the changes in the character’s personalities is a problem we can’t overlook. Those who accepted the changes said that they were expecting a script so bad that they found this average one ‘ok’ . After all, we expected many differences from the books, and keeping the basics of the story (the city, the pandemonium, Clary looking for her mother) is already agreat progress.

We wanted to share this information with our readers not to frighten or discourage anyone. On the contrary, we believe that if we keep a open mind (pretty open, let’s not kid ourselves), we can actually enjoy the series. And also remember that there’s, you know, the whole rest of the episode, the parts we didn’t read, and it could be good. Or it could be bad. We have to be prepared for anything.

Until the airing of the show there’s still a long way to go. We have to go through all of the things we waited for with the movie: casting, filming, post-production… And we will be looking forward to those moments and we’ll try to be supportive of this project until we have actually seen the final product and we can speak our minds. The most important thing, though, is that we will continue to love and support the books no matter what. It was them that we fell in love with, it’s of them that we are fans. And if Cassie unfortunately can’t get involved and change the history of Shadowhunter universe on television, she sure can and will expand it more and more in the books. And we are extremely happy with it.

UPDATE (03/19/15): This time we had access to an update from the former script. There aren’t any big differences in the structure compared to the original, but we can notice big alterations in the characters’ personality.

Firstly, Alec and Isabelle seem to appear more in this version. There’s a short dialogue between them, which can mean that their parts will be bigger in the pilot.

Moreover, we had bigger changes related to Jace and Clary. In this new version, Jace makes less sexual innuendos. There are some, but they’re a little subtler. And the best part, in our opinion: this time Clary responds the fact that Jace made a rune in her thigh, and gets really angry that he went through her stuff. With other few changes, we noticed that they probably are opting for a more determined Clary, as she in the books.

This few alterations give us hope that they are starting to listen the fans, who haven’t stopped complaining since the rumors spread about how things were going. The delay of the shooting date for June may indicate that they’re being more careful with the script, and maybe more changes can happen.

We just have to cross our fingers and hope that this alterations are for the best, and that, in the end of all this, the result please the fans.

UPDATE (03/24/15): The script was updated again. The structure remains the same, but it’s worthy to make note of two significative changes.

The fisrt one is that the Natalie’s character , who is Simon’s girlfriend, is now named Maureen. Her description and the lines of the character are the same, only the name of the character has changed. The meaning of this is still a mystery.

The other change was that the rune which Jace had drawn in the two preview versions on the top of Clary’s tigh is now on her neck. Clary still gets angry because he tattooed her while she was unconscious, but we can be a little relieved that the rune is not in such an invasive place, and, at least, closer of the wound, which is in her shoulder.

It’s important to remember that Cassie will meet the producers this week, so watch it for news at any minute!

UPDATE (04/26/15): This time there are two types of updates. Lets start from the first one: the changes in the scripts we already saw.
There are a few positive chages: Clary finally seems to have her nerd culture knowledge, which she didn’t have in the other scripts. She references Game Of Thrones, Star Wars and Pulp Fiction, and even that all this at once seems a bit overdone, at least she looks more like the Clary we know.
Other positive change was the fact that Jace asks for permission to see Clary’s wound in her shoulder, instead of just pulling her shirt.
Other news we noticed is that Simon and Maureen are celebrating their seven-month anniversary.

The second update come from other parts of the pilot which we had access, this time for Luke, Alec and Izzy.

In Luke’s part, we found out he works as a cop in New York, and he’s investigating cases of “demonic killings” in his police station, which is pretty technological — this seems to be an aspect in which the series will invest, since Alec and Izzy put the demonic killings in “the grid”.
There’s also a scene when he talks with two women who seems to be the girl versions of Pangborn and Blackwell, while he tries to get informations about the Mortal Cup while Clary watches. This scene is similar to the book one, but in this case, Clary watches it in the interrogation room where Luke works. The two Shadowhunters interested in informations about the Mortal Cup have “red circular runes” on their necks.
While all of this happen, Valentine is in Chernobyl (yes, Chernobyl, where in the 80’s there was the famous accident with radioactive material. As if Shadowhunters aren’t somehow affected by radiation? Really?), apparently doing some experiments mixing human and demon blood.

In Alec and Isabelle’s scene, which is interesting just for existing because this is the bigger participation that we saw of them in the episode, we feel that Isabelle isn’t so devoted to her duty as a Shadowhunter, preferring to focus on her affairs outside the Institute. We are not saying that she shouldn’t have a love life, but it seems like they are making Izzy’s relationships with Downworlders her mainly personality trait, in an oversexualized version of her character. This is not something that surprise us, because it looks like they are taking advantage of the fact that the characters are older to make the series look more adult, meaning that they’re sacrificing some character’s personalities and this is upsetting for us as fans. (We can also see this change in Izzy’s personality when Clary has to wear her clothes after hers are burned for being infected with demon blood and she says “What kind of message is this sending?”).

Other change from the book is that they already know Magnus and Alec seems to have some kind of relationship with him.

Oh well. All that is left for us to do is wait and hope, again.
